Storage and processing of the blood and protein products by EAPA members follows European Union regulations. 

Animal protein products are produced from healthy animals that have been inspected and approved by veterinarians. The blood collected for the preparation of these products must be kept within cooled storage and processed as soon as possible from collection at the slaughterhouses. All production facilities are also subject to public veterinary inspection on a daily basis. 

The ISO 9001-2000 certified quality control system, in particular, is an important and required part of the quality assurance programmes. It applies from handling of raw materials to delivery of the finished products.
